Our delivery capability is based on physical presence in London, Paris, Frankfurt, Stockholm, Barcelona, Milan, Boston, Mexico City, Santa Fe and Singapore and with delivery experience in over 50 countries globally.
JO OWEN is a Founding Partner of the Leadership Partnership and of MAC Partnership. He is a co-founder and board member of Teach First, UK, and is also a highly sought-after executive educator.
Jo co-founded Teach First as a way of encouraging young promising graduates to develop leadership skills from an early age. Teach First is a not for profit which recruits top graduates to teach for two years in disadvantaged, inner-city schools. In its third year, it has become a UK top 20 graduate recruiter ranked by The Times, beating 95% of FTSE 100 companies.
As an executive educator, Jo works globally across a variety of management issues. He has pioneered the use of Mapping as a way of diagnosing and solving key issues faced by management teams. Equally at ease in strategy and implementation issues, he has a particular expertise in the development of Leadership programs for top managers.
A financial services specialist, he has also created a new business bank, which now trades as HBOS Business Banking.
He was formerly a strategy partner in Accenture's financial services group. Before that, he worked for ten years with Gemini Consulting, where he was a partner and, for two years, the leader of Gemini Japan.
Jo is the author of How to Lead, published by Pearson in March 2005.
He is the author of two other popular management books, Hard Core Management and Management Stripped Bare (Kogan Page). He also writes a column on leadership for Director magazine, and his work has appeared in the Financial Times and the Daily and Sunday Telegraph and many magazines.
Jo earned his MA at Queens' College, Cambridge, and his MBA at London Business School.
He currently lives in London.
MEL BLAKE is a Founding Partner of the MAC Partnership. He is also an independent consultant.
He brings twenty-two years of corporate executive and strategy consulting experience to his advisory practice. His areas of focus include strategy and market development, customer-focused programs in marketing and operations, sales force efficiency and effectiveness, and research methods using video and visualization techniques. He has worked across a range of industries, with specific sector depth in financial services (securities, banking and money management), professional services, and technology-based companies.
He was Executive Vice President and Managing Director at BankBoston Corporation, where he was a member of the Corporate Working Committee, the bank's executive policy and decision-making body. He has also served as Chief of Staff at FleetBoston Financial, and Managing Director for Ecommerce Development, concentrating on business-to-business markets. Prior to his corporate positions, he was a Vice President at the MAC Group, a management consulting firm based in Cambridge, MA.
He is a frequent contributor to the business press, both print and on-line. He writes about a large spectrum of topics in the financial services industry.
He holds a BA in Economics from Wesleyan University (CT) and earned an MBA from the Yale School of Management.
He resides in Lexington, Massachusetts.

DAVID BUTTER is a Founding Partner of the MAC Partnership. He is also a co-founder of Group Partners, a London-based consultancy providing high-level facilitation using a proprietary contextual framework to align business strategy around the needs of the customer.
The focus of his practice is on workshops and mapping, international client management, value innovation and brand and consumer marketing. David is an experienced public speaker, engaging workshop facilitator, and trusted client advisor. His recent lectures and speeches have included "Profiting from Paradox", "The Advertising Zeitgeist" and "Cross-cultural and ethnic Marketing."
David Butter has spent thirty years in marketing and advertising with Young and Rubicam, now part of WPP. His roles have included Director of Worldwide Marketing at global headquarters, and Managing Partner on international clients, including American Express, ChevronTexaco, Eurotunnel, Ford, Pepsico, Star Alliance and Xerox. Providing services in advertising, research, media and CRM.
In addition to his native UK, he has lived and worked in France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Australia and the US, and is fluent in five languages.
He has a BA in Business Studies from the City of London College, and resides in Notting Hill in London.

LARS CARLBERG is a Founding Partner of the MAC Partnership. He is also an independent consultant.
He has thirteen years of management consulting experience in both domestic and multinational business. He advises senior executives on how to achieve breakthrough growth. He is a specialist of the Value Innovation and Tipping Point Leadership models, originally developed by Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne at INSEAD. He also has a long-standing experience of the Balanced Scorecard model developed by Robert Kaplan and David Norton for rapid strategy implementation.
He has broad and deep experience of strategy development and implementation from both public organizations and private companies within telecommunication, automotive, pharmaceutical, engineering, manufacturing and financial services.
Before becoming independent, he worked for many years in partnership with Kaplan and Norton's Balanced Scorecard Collaborative. Before becoming a consultant, Lars held various executive positions in a Swedish multinational corporation quoted on the Swedish Stock Exchange and gained practical experiences from mergers and acquisitions, production, distribution and transformation in Western Europe.
Lars earned his BBA in Financing and Accounting from the Gothenburg School of Economics.
He resides in Gothenburg, Sweden.

ALBERTO FORCHIELLI is a Founding Partner of the MAC Partnership. He has multiple other activities. He is the Managing Director of D&C SpA, Bologna, Italy, the Chairman of the Board of Sourcing Solutions Ltd, Honk Kong, a Director at PEA SpA, Torino, Italy, a Director, Member of Compensation and Control Committees at Datalogic SpA, Bologna, Italy, and a Director at Gruppo Industriale Tosoni SpA, Verona, Italy, and at Network Computer House SpA, Bologna, Italy.
He is also a Visiting Professor of Business Administration at the Università degli Studi di Bologna, Facoltà di Economia e Commercio, as well as a Commissioner and Member of Intellectual Property and World Trade P.A.G at the Commission on Globalization, World Forum, in San Francisco, CA, USA.
Before that, he was with the European Investment Bank in Luxemburg. He was also a Senior Adviser in the Private Sector Development Department of the World Bank in Washington, D.C.. He was also the President, Asia – Pacific for Finmeccanica SpA/IRI Group in Singapore. He was also Secretary General for Privatization for the IRI Group in Rome. For many years before that, he was a Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the Italian practice of the MAC Group/Gemini Consulting, in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Milan.
He holds an MBA with Honors from the Harvard Business School, and a Bachelor's Degree in Economics, cum laude from the Universita' degli Studi di Bologna. He is fluent in Italian, English, Spanish and French. He has lived extensively in Santiago, Lima, Cambridge (USA), London, Rome, Singapore, Washington D.C. and Luxemburg.
He currently resides in Imola, Italy.

Patrick Garcin is a Founding Partner of the MAC Partnership. He is also an independent consultant linked to an independent experts' network.
He has 27 years of professional experience, mainly in the manufacturing industry, including seventeen years in management consultancy with Ingersoll Engineers, Cap Gemini Ernst and Young, Renaissance and Unilog Management, covering both French and international business.
He advises senior executives on how to achieve breakthrough growth and value: business improvement plan designs and monitoring, implementation of new organization (process- and project- oriented), design and implementation of management models such as Activity Based Management (ABM).
Patrick has a significant experience of building and implementing Balanced Scorecards for large European companies. He has a deep experience of strategy implementation for both public organizations (French Department of Justice, Ministry of Culture, …) and private companies, including automotive, manufacturing, aeronautic, space, defence, pharmaceutical and financial services.
He is a sought-after public speaker and teacher in advanced business performance monitoring.
Before becoming a management consultant, Patrick held multiple jobs within the Renault Group, including Finance and Control Director position of a Division.
Patrick was born in 1953 and holds a diploma from the French School of Management (ESC), an advanced finance studies diploma (DECS) and some INSEAD business training.
He is fluent in three languages: French, English, and Italian and has some working knowledge of Spanish.
He currently resides in Paris, France.

FRANCIS GOUILLART is a Founding Partner of the MAC Partnership and is the President of the Value Innovation Partnership.
As the President of the Value Innovation Partnership, he focuses on the development and application of the concepts of Value Innovation originally developed by Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne, the two widely recognized professors at INSEAD. The Value Innovation family of concepts provides a new paradigm for both strategy and the change management process associated with it.
He is considered one of the leading authorities on the topic of strategy, transformation, and capabilities-building. He is a sought-after public speaker, lecturer and advisor on Value Innovation and the large-scale transformation of organizations. He works across the US, Europe, and Asia, and has worked in most industries, with a particular expertise in agricultural products, automotive, cement, chemicals, construction, energy, insurance, office equipment, paper and professional services.
He is co-author (with James Kelly) of the book "Transforming the Organization", published by McGraw-Hill, which reached the top of Business Week's best-seller list in 1995. He is also co-author (with Frederick Sturdivant) of the article "Spend a Day in the Life of Your Customers", published by Harvard Business Review (January-February 1994). He also authored the popular "Stratégie pour une Entreprise Compétitive", Editions Economica, Paris, which was named ‘Best Strategy Book of the Year' by the French Association of Strategic Planners (AFPLANE) in 1989. He has been widely quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Fortune, and has been featured on CNBC.
Mr. Gouillart received an MBA from the University of Chicago, and holds a diploma from the French Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Economiques et Commerciales (ESSEC).
He currently resides in Concord, Massachusetts.

JAMES KELLY is a Founding Partner of the MAC Partnership. He is also a senior advisor to a large number of organizations and a Board Member to many of them.
A top CEO consultant and strategist, James works with large financial institutions and professional service firms worldwide on a variety of professional development topics, including strategic selling, relationship management, and leadership. He serves or has served as a board director of a number of services companies, including First Active Bank, Dublin, Ireland; ERM, London, England; Liberty Re, London, England; and Gemini Consulting, Morristown, NJ.
His clients have included leading organizations such as Lloyds TSB Group, Abbey Life Insurance, Halifax Building Society, Citigroup, and Stanford University.
He is the former Chairman and founder of Gemini Consulting, a $750 m. leading global consulting firm -- now Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. James lived for twenty years in London, where he directed the expansion of Gemini's European and Asian business.
He has published widely in periodicals such as the Sloan Management Review and Long Range Planning. He is coauthor – with Francis Gouillart -- of Transforming the Organization (McGraw Hill), which was number one on a Business Week's Bestseller list.
He is a graduate of DePauw University and Harvard Business School, and is married to a UK national. James is also a founding partner of MAC Partners.
He currently resides in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, and spends six months a year in London.

LUIS MALAGARRIGA is a Founding Partner of the MAC Partnership. He is also an investor and a business consultant.
He is a Board Member for several companies. As a consultant, he deals with issues of business and corporate strategy, and profitable growth. He specializes in assessing the business impact of new technologies. He is also often involved with profit improvements, turnarounds and restructuring. He also advises on issues of corporate organization and governance, as well as in board composition and design.
His industry experience is quite broad, and includes new services, telecommunication, financial services, consumer goods, transportation, logistics and family-owned businesses.
More recently, he was Chairman of Roland Berger Spain (Roland Berger & Partners) and previously was Managing Director Spain and International Partner. Before that, he was with Gemini Consulting, as Chairman and CEO for Southern Europe (France, Italy, Spain and Portugal). He was also with the MAC Group, as Managing Director Spain and Portugal and International Partner.
Luis has an MBA from IESE in Barcelona, Spain. He also has an Economics Degree and a Law Degree from the University of Barcelona.
He is fluent in Spanish, English, and French, and conversant in Italian and Catalan.
He resides in Barcelona, Spain.

KIRT MEAD is a founding partner of the MAC Partnership and an independent consultant.
He specializes in strategy work involving Value Innovation, the strategy methodology developed by Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne at INSEAD. In addition, he has extensive experience consulting in IT strategy, business transformation, and advanced organization.
He is also a public speaker and teacher in high demand. He is a regular lecturer and teacher in advanced business practices, both in Europe and the US. For years, he was responsible for teaching the well-known business-technology "bridge" course at IBM's education center at La Hulpe, Belgium. More recently, he has been a regular lecturer at Universitaet's Seminar der Wirtschaft (USW), a German business school.
He has been working with American and European multi-nationals for over twenty years. His industry specialties include manufacturing, chemicals and process industries, and pharmaceuticals, and he has also worked in financial services and consumer products. His clients have included Altria, Avery-Dennison, Bayer, BNP, Ciba, DuPont, ICI, ATOFINA, Reichhold, Lonza, Novartis, Pfizer, and Solvay.
He was for many years a Senior Vice President with CSC Index, in London and Cambridge, MA, where he headed the process industry group. Prior to Index, he was with the MAC Group. He was also a Partner in Resource Planning Associates (RPA), a consulting firm specialized in resources and energy. At RPA he played a major role in developing operations in France and Europe. Mead began his career at MITRE Corporation, the well known Air Force and CIA think tank near Boston. He speaks fluent French and German.
He holds a PhD from MIT, a Masters from Stanford, and a BA from Wesleyan University.
He currently resides in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

SCOTT PARKER is a Founding Partner of the MAC Partnership and an independent consultant.
He helps the senior management of several types of professional services firms, including law, consulting, executive search, and PR improve their firm's performance across a range of issues. His work focuses on the development and execution of business process and personnel changes leading to improved economic performance and stronger market positioning. He frequently facilitates meetings of senior management teams, as they wrestle with strategic and tactical issues.
He has taught and designed courses at the graduate business level and in executive development sessions. He is a member of the Duke Corporate Education Academic Network. He was also an adjunct faculty member of a top 25 graduate business program for six years. He has over thirty years of experience in management consulting, including eight years of experience as a senior business advisor working on his own to serve and assist both professional services firms and B2B corporations.
Before that, he was the Managing Director or a senior officer of three consulting firms. As Managing Director of a sales and marketing firm specializing in the development and implementation of integrated, multi-channel sales and marketing solutions, he led the consulting operations. he was also one of the two Managing Directors of The MAC Group, a strategic management consulting firm, and he was one of the key executives who led its merger to create Gemini Consulting. Gemini Consulting focused on business transformation, and it was the fastest growing, major consulting firm in the world in 1992 and 1993.
He graduated at the top of his MBA class at the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, after completing his BA in Economics at the same university.
He resides in Bethesda, Maryland.

HANS JUERGEN RUHLAND is a Founding Partner of the MAC Partnership. He is also the President and founder of the Nice Company GmbH.
His expertise resides in both the formulation and the implementation of strategy. His practice includes the development of growth strategies with Value Innovation, the model developed by Renée Mauborgne and Chan Kim at INSEAD. He is also a long-standing practitioner of strategy implementation with the Balanced Scorecard model originally developed by Robert Kaplan and David Norton. He also has extensive experience helping companies design and implement IT-enabled processes and the associated behavioral change. He has a particular expertise in IT strategy, the implementation of customer care and billing processes, and the organizational and technology issues involved in marketing and sales.
His industry expertise covers the Telecommunication, Financial Services, Transportation, IT, Services, Chemical, Automotive and Consumer Goods industries. He has worked with Deutsche Telekom, BMW, Beiersdorf, and DuPont, among many others.
Before that, he was a Senior Vice President with CGEY/Gemini Consulting. Earlier, he was also a Founder of GTP GmbH, the Marketing and Information Management Consulting Services, which subsequently sold to CGEY. He also was with Kimberly Clark as Marketing Manager in the Consumer Products area.
His work has been featured in numerous German publications, including manager magazine and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
He holds a Master's degree in Engineering (Diplom Wirt.-Ing.) with majors in IT and OR, from the University of Karlsruhe, Germany.
He currently lives in Friedrichsdorf, outside Frankfurt.

ANDREW SOBEL is a founding partner of the MAC Partnership, and president of Andrew Sobel Advisors, Inc..
He is a leading authority on client relationships and the skills and strategies required to earn enduring client loyalty. He has worked for twenty-three years as both as a strategy advisor to top management and an executive educator, designing and delivering a large number of professional development programs for financial and professional services firms.
He is the author of two best-selling books, Making Rain: The Secrets of Building Lifelong Client Loyalty (John Wiley) and Clients for Life: Evolving from an Expert for Hire to an Extraordinary Advisor (Simon & Schuster). He is currently working on a new book about how large services organizations mobilize across internal and geographic boundaries to institutionalize large client relationships. His articles and work have been featured in a variety of national magazines and media, including USA Today, Investors Business Daily, and The Harvard Business Review, and he has appeared on numerous national television programs.
A former managing director with Gemini Consulting (formerly the MAC Group), he lived and worked abroad for thirteen years, and speaks three languages.
He graduated from Middlebury College and earned his MBA from Dartmouth's Tuck School.
He currently resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

KEE-HIAN TAN KEE-HIAN TAN is a Founding Partner of the MAC Partnership. He is also the Managing Director of KHT and Co, which provides advisory services to clients in services, industrial and technology sectors.
His consulting practice spans a broad set of general management issues across a spectrum of strategy and implementation issues. He has extensive experience in corporate development, strategic planning and M&A. He is an avid practitioner of the Value Innovation model developed by Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne at INSEAD. He is a recognized specialist in supply chain, technology and operations issues. He has worked extensively on marketing and sales issues. He has also worked extensively in the area of transformation and large-scale change.
He has particular expertise in the following industries: communications, technology, manufacturing, life sciences, oil and gas, consumer goods, and financial services.
He was previously with A. T. Kearney in London, as Vice President for Communications, High-Tech, and New Ventures. Before that, he was with MCI as Vice President, International Strategy, M&A, and Strategic Initiatives, and Director for UK Business Markets. Earlier, he was a Senior Vice President with Gemini Consulting in the US and Europe, and a Member of Gemini Consulting's Global Executive Committee. He was also a Project Manager; Field Engineer; Offshore Research & Development Coordinator with Royal Dutch/Shell Group, UK & the Netherlands.
He holds an MBA with High Distinction from the Harvard Business School (Baker Scholar). He also holds a BSc (First Class Honours) in Mechanical Engineering from the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine in London (John Samuel Prize; Imperial College Award; Shell Scholar). He did his "A" Levels and was an ASEAN Scholar at the National Junior College in Singapore. He lives in London, but will spend eight months of the year in Asia.

ADRIAN YOVANOVICH is a Founding Partner of the MAC Partnership and the President of Emercomex, a Mexico-based consulting firm.
He has fifteen years experience working with CEOs, business unit managers and senior executive teams to address strategy, competitiveness, transformation and organization development issues. Adrian's work focuses on fostering creative strategy design and effective strategy implementation, resulting in sustainable improvement in revenue growth and value creation. He has delivered numerous lectures on strategy and implementation in a variety of settings.
Adrian was formerly with Gemini Consulting and Emergence Consulting, where he served as the Managing Director for Mexico and Latin America. His engagements have included a range of industries, such as telecommunications, computer manufacturing, natural resources, airlines, chemicals, oil and gas, cement and retail. His clients have included companies such as Cemex, Sabritas (Frito-Lay), Pemex, the Mexican Government, DuPont and IBM. He has delivered projects for clients in Europe, the United States, Mexico and Central/ South America. Before that, he held several engineering positions with GE Plastics.
He has an M.S. in Management from the Sloan School at MIT and also holds a BS and MS in Chemical Engineering from MIT.
He currently lives in Mexico City, Mexico.
